Ethereal Transit: Fluidity in the Moving City

Capturing the grace of high-frequency silk as it catches the city's night lights. A look into the motion-first design philosophy of our evening wear.

Motion is the only constant in the urban landscape. Our 'Ethereal Transit' series captures the blur of light and the grace of movement through textiles that react to the wind created by the city's transit systems. We call this 'Aero-Choreography'.

The fabric used is a bio-synthetic silk that possesses a 'memory' feature—it gently cascades back into its original architectural form immediately after movement. This creates a perpetual cycle of disruption and restoration, reflecting the heartbeat of a city that never pauses.

In this feature, we delve into how we used high-speed photography to map the air currents in Tokyo's busiest intersections, then applied those maps to the cutting patterns of our evening gowns. The result is a garment that feels like it's in flight, even when standing still.
